24 october 2011 occupy London

October 25, 2011

The fact is that it wouldn’t matter where in London ( or anywhere else in the UK ) this demonstration, occupy London, chose to be, it would not be allowed. We,the people, have no ‘right’ to gather anywhere that is not officially sanctioned. We could try a beach, or a wood, or Dartmoor or Glastonbury Tor or? Isn’t that at least part of what this demonstration is about?

This is our country and yet there is nowhere for us to gather. The issues which need discussing are multiple, complex and important. It is unrealistic, and unreasonable to propose that we can hurry the process of deconstructing, and subsequently constructing, credible alternatives to the system of ,democracy, as it is presently formed, over a few hours, or even days and weeks.
